RIP Computer

My precious computer of five years died a few weeks ago, we ordered a mother board of the internet thinking that was what was wrong. Once the motherboard got here we put my computer back together and it was no dice. We are hoping my friend will be able to retrieve the files off of it; it has all of my pictures from the past five years. Yes that means all of my gorgeous son’s baby pictures. It isn’t just the pictures it is all music and such things too. I know before you say it, I should have been backing my computer up. Lesson learned the next computer I have I will be backing it up. Luckily I have a husband with a work laptop I can use and a very nice friends that have been letting me borrow their laptops. So I ask bloggers keep your eyes an dears open for affordable computers or any review possibilities.

  1. I highly recommend Craigslist and eBay, especially if you know exactly what you want. Do your homework on the internet researching your needs and then buy one used!!Also, we have loved using Mozy.com to back up our files (it runs automatically). And if you go with a Mac, you can buy a program called Time Machine which will do automatic backups to an external hard drive (you can buy a USB external hard drive for around $40). Or you can back up to the exernal drive manually, we do that as well. Lots of options!! Good luck!

  2. That sucks. I hope you can get your files some kind of way. With the Holidays coming up, you might be able to find some deals on computers/laptops I know one year I got a laptop for like $300. I don't know what you're looking to spend, but I will keep an eye out for you.

  3. That really stinks! Do you know anyone who builds computers or anything? We saved a lot of money having someone order our tower without any programs installed and then had him install what we needed. Definitely thankful for that!

  4. Wow…that totally sucks. I lost a bunch of stuff last year but have since learned to back-up everything either on disc, on a website like Flickr, or on an external hard drive. Here's hoping they can extract the photos. My fingers are crossed.
